I'm so psyched to be doing a collaboration with Sydney (Anchored in the South)! Recently it has been getting cold, like really cold. During December, it didn't exactly feel like winter, but now it has been really hitting me. Since the weather has been getting colder, I've been more into the winter spirit and resorting to some of my winter essentials.

Mug

Winter is the perfect time for hot drinks. I love drinking tea and hot chocolate in my mug from Anthropologie. I feel like I have talked about this mug millions of times, but that's just because I love it so much. It's a pretty big mug, which means lots of room for more tea or chocolate, and also has a super nice design!

Since the winter weather is so dry, it causes my lips to be super dry as well. I've recently been using my Burt's Bees pomegranate lip balm to keep my lips moisturized. If you don't use any lip balm, I don't know how you do it. I reapply at least 5 times a day and that's already much less than I would like to be reapplying.

winter essentials

You know what's totally underrated? Gloves. My whole body is literally freezing when I go outside and my hands are no exception. Honestly, sometimes even when I get into the car, the steering wheel is too cold for me. I got these gloves a few years ago from Marshall's, but I absolutely love them! It's not that the style is fancy or anything, they're just plain waterproof black gloves, but the inside is lined with fuzzy fur (faux fur, not real fur) that is so soft and makes my fingers so warm. On top of that, they're touch screen compatible! Nothing will stop me from sending out tweets about how cold I am or instagramming pictures of the snow.

Like how I mentioned that my lips get dry, my face gets dry as well during the winter. I've been using my First Aid Beauty ultra repair cream as often as I can or as often as I remember to. I really have a difficult time getting into skincare and such, but lotion is a nice starter for me, and is especially useful when the weather is just not agreeing with your face. Without it, my face would be super dry. If you want to know more about skincare during the winter, I wrote a post in the past titled, SOS, Save Our Skin, where I go more in-depth on keeping your skin from drying out in the cool winter.

I basically live in sweaters during the winter time. My school is absolutely freezing and I am basically shivering if I don't have a sweater. Sometimes I even have to wear my coat over my sweater while I'm inside! I have been really loving this sweater from Loft, it's super cozy and warm. It's made out of a nice heavy fabric, so it isn't just a thin sweater, it's something that will actually keep me warm. It also is super cute and I can pull it on and put zero effort into my outfit and still look put together and feel comfortable as well.

Candles are perfect for the winter time, it just gives off that warm and cozy vibe. I got these Yankee Candles from a friend and they're all Christmas themed, but hey, candles are candles, right? I recently got a candle warmer for safe candle usage and I'm so excited to use all my candles uring the winter season.

Can have a moment of thankfulness for fuzzy socks? I used to not wear socks much when I'm at home, but recently I've been finding myself so cold that I need them, especially in the morning. Fuzzy socks are my total go-to when my feet are cold, I'm just not a slipper type of person. These ones that I've shown are from Old Navy and are the cutest little bunny socks! They're adorable and comfortable, a killer combination!

I have linked some things that fall in the same categories of the winter essentials that I mentioned and I still absolutely adore. In addition to that, you should check out Sydney's post, where she talked about her winter essentials as well! Sydney is so sweet and an incredible person and you should check out her blog ASAP.
