If you keep up with my blog's social media, you might know that it was my birthday last week! This was super exciting, even though it definitely did not feel like it was my birthday. Nevertheless, I had a lot of fun. To celebrate my birthday, I opted for Alice in Wonderland themed afternoon tea. There's a little bistro and tea room close to my house that has the cutest Alice in Wonderland theme. It's filled with clocks, playing cards, roses, and all things Alice in Wonderland, plus it has the most delicious scones and adorable tea pots!

Let's just take a moment to appreciate the decorations of the place. The walls were lined with green foliage to go along with the theme and there were red and white roses all along the ceiling. On the sides there were clocks and lamps of all shapes and sizes along with an assortment of random items that follow the theme. There was also a mural of the flowers and plants in Wonderland.

The food was by far my favorite part of the party (What can I say? I like food. A lot.) and I definitely ate more than I should have. But before we dive into business with food, I just want to talk about the dishes. If this place wasn't already cute enough with the decorations, the dishes take the plate. Each seat has a decorative plate, and saucer, and a teacup, all mismatched, but they all go perfectly with the theme. My plate had the symbols of cards, hearts, spades, jacks, and clovers lining the edges, and then the words, "I'm late! I'm late!" lining the outside of a picture of the white rabbit and his gold pocketwatch. On top of my floral saucer, was an Alice themed teacup, with pictures of the Queen of Hearts and her crew on the outside and on the inside, the quote, "'This is the most curious tea party I've ever been to,' said Alice."

Along with the mismatched plates were the most whimsical and adorable teapots that I have ever seen. The teapot that was beside me looked like a delicious cake, but my other friends had a teapot with a stove on it, and on previous visits to this restaurant I had gotten equally adorable Alice in Wonderland themed teapots that are so swoon worthy! There was a huge selection of teas to select, a lot of my friends opted for the mint chocolate tea, except I wasn't daring enough to go for something like that and opted for a fruit blended black tea with vanilla and caramel flavors. Other tea options included white peach, strawberry kiwi, English breakfast, hot cinnamon spice, and more.

The treats were absolutely amazing. Served on three tier tea party platters, there were sweet treats on the top tier, buttery scones on the second, and savory sandwiches on the bottom tier. The poppy seed scones and chocolate chip scones were my personal favorites, they're warm and buttery and delicious.

The bottom tier with cute little finger sandwiches included some choices that were a little more Americanized compared to the typical English high tea, but I'm all for a tasty variation. There was the classic cucumber and mint sandwich, artichoke canapes, sandwiches with roasted pepper and hummus, and also Nutella banana sandwiches. The option for Nutella banana sandwiches was actually a substitute instead of smoked salmon and capers, but I'm not fond of smoked salmon and I mean, it's Nutella.

The top tier had all kinds of sweet treats, including strawberries cut into roses, pineapple, lemon cheesecake squares, chocolate chip cookies, brownies, and oreo pudding. The oreo pudding was particularly popular, people were swarming for them, but I think that I enjoyed the lemon cheesecake the most out of all the sweet treats, despite the fact that most people favored the more chocolately options, but hey, more for me, right?

The middle tier had scones as well as mascarpone cheese and lemon curd. The scone types included chocolate chip scones and poppyseed scones. I personally think that I enjoyed the poppyseed ones more, even though I typically gravitate towards the rich chocolate.

Following the tea party, we took some photobooth type pictures and then opened gifts. I feel like this year my friends really nailed it with the gift giving, with all kinds of gifts that I really loved. (Maybe it's because I specified that I like Anthropologie, but still) If you're interested on what I got from my friends, I posted a YouTube video (what??) with my gift appreciation. I asked on Twitter if anyone would be interested in it and then decided to just sit down and have a little chat about it, which is totally different from what I normally do.

I also decorated some sugar cookies to fit the Alice in Wonderland theme for the guests to take home, these are some of the cookie designs that I created. I also made a playing card cookie and a heart shaped "Eat me" cookie, but the one that I think turned out the best was the clock one and the "painting the roses red" cookie was super popular, so I thought that I would include these ones. My decorating skills were definitely a bit rusty, but I would say that these still turned out spectacularly!

Overall, I think that my birthday was a success. I had a great time munching on sweet treats and sipping tea and I think that looking back on it, I wouldn't have changed a thing about it. From the decorations that were so *heart eye emoji* to the buttery scones, it was a party to be remembered.
